Sean Davidson

Royal

A steady force for the county’s No. 1 team, Davidson produced some memorable perf-ormances last fall, including a time of 14:41 at Woodbridge, 15:14 at the Mount San Antonio College Invitational and 15:27 at the Clovis Invitational. Davidson has won an AP scholar award. His favorite movie is “Ninja Assassin.” Davidson enjoys eating white rice with chow mein. Yao Ming is his favorite athlete. Davidson follows the Chinese Olympic basketball team. His hobbies include playing basketball and origami. “Pokemon” is his favorite TV show.

Paul Jesson

Royal

A follower of world champ-ionship teams — the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Lakers — Jesson was a key member of a Royal team that was ranked No. 1 in the nation for most of the year. The senior was 22nd at the Division I final and 46th at the state championships. Jesson posted a time of 14:41 at the Woodbridge Invitational. His favorite movie is “Transformers 2.” Ryan Hall, one of America’s top distance runners, is Jesson’s favorite athlete. The TV series “24” draws Jesson’s attention. He enjoys listening to the music of Cascada.

Travis Edwards

Royal

Making his mark as a state finalist in the 1,600 last spring, Edwards was the power dog of the Royal distance program, leading the Highlanders to second place at the section and state finals with individual finishes of third and fifth, respectively. Edwards posted the sixth fastest time (14:21) at the Woodbridge Invitational. The senior’s favorite movie is “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.” TV talk shows “Oprah” and “Dr. Phil” capture his attention. He likes eating broccoli and frog legs. His favorite team is the Green Bay Packers. As a hobby, Edwards grows flowers.

Sam Demello

Westlake

Thanks to the front-running of its senior leader, Westlake ranked among the top Division II programs in the state. With Demello placing fourth, Westlake won the team title at the Ventura County Championships. He finished ninth in the Division II race at the Woodbridge Invitational and 27th at the CIF Division II final. Demello received the Student Athlete Award at Westlake. He enjoyed watching the movie “Friday Night Lights.” “SportsNation” is his favorite TV show. His best meal is Wood Ranch barbecue. Demello’s favorite football team is the University of Oregon.

Korey Yoakum

Royal

Tranquil afternoons flying kites or watching clouds make the day for Korey Yoakum. There was nothing tranquil about Yoakum’s Division I section final. Tripped during the race and sustaining a concussion, Yoakum scrambled to his feet and helped Royal finish second as a team. At the Woodbridge Invitational, Yoakum posted a time of 14:55. Yoakum likes eating all types of shellfish. He admires marathoner Ryan Hall. He will attend Sacramento State.

Sean Grumney

Newbury Park

One of Ventura County’s fastest half-milers last spring, Grumney proved that he can be a force in the longer distances as well. In the ultra-tough Marmonte League finals, Grumney placed fourth. He was second in his heats at the Mount San Antonio College Invitational and CIF Division II Prelims. His favorite movie is “Point Blank.” Rage Against the Machine is his favorite band. Grumney likes eating sushi. Australian distance runner Craig Mottram is the athlete he admires the most.

Heyden Wooff

Camarillo

Coming off a memorable 2009 track season, winning Division II section and Masters Meet titles as a sophomore, Wooff showed no signs of letting down in cross country. The Ventura County and Pacific View League champion made a major splash by winning the sweepstakes race at the Woodbridge Invitational. Wooff won the Kenny Staub Invitational and was second at the Mount San Antonio College Invitational. After finishing second at the CIF-Southern Section Division II finals with the fastest time (14 minutes, 35 seconds) by an area runner at the famed Mount SAC course in Walnut, Wooff placed fifth at the CIF State Championships.
