Lancers’ cross country captain can’t stand stillPublished by
TOHS senior star stays busy with plethora of activities
Thousand Oaks High cross country runners aren’t allowed to make excuses as long as Kori Groenveld is on the team. Head coach Keena Carstensen points at Groenveld whenever a Lancer complains about being too busy to attend practice. Groenveld, senior captain of the girls’ cross country team, is busier than a Halloween costume shop on Oct. 30. “Kori is a great example to follow for all the girls on the team,” Carstensen said. “She’s a great student. She enjoys running. She does it all.” Groenveld can barely keep track of all her extracurricular activities. The Lancer is the vice president of the Debate Club and Ping Pong Club. She’s also a member of the Majors Club, which informs students about different majors for college. Groenveld tutors students at the former Park Oaks Elementary School in Thousand Oaks. Throw in cross country practices, meets and five Advanced Placement classes this semester, and Groenveld still manages to maintain a 4.0 grade-point average. “Oh, wait, I’m also in the youth group at my church,” Groenveld said. She doesn’t mind being so active. “I’ve always been a busy person,” she said. “I like everything I do. Some of the things I do are for college and others are for fun. “Running is my favorite thing to do. I can’t get enough of it.” Read the full article at: www.toacorn.com
