Thousand Oaks CA senior Michael Mireles finished third in the opening Marmonte League meet in 14:26.80, a program record and No. 4 in course history at the 3-mile layout at Pepper Tree Playfields in Newbury Park, Calif. Mireles nearly ran faster than the previous record of 14:26.71 established by Nico Young of Newbury Park at last year's league championship meet. Young clocked 14:08.82 and fellow Newbury Park senior Jace Aschbrenner ran 14:19.51 for the top two times in course history to lead the Panthers to a 19-43 victory over Thousand Oaks.
