In his first race of its kind, Sean Gildea, a 22-year-old college student from Thousand Oaks, was the overall and male half-marathon winner in Sunday’s Long Beach International City Bank Marathon & Half Marathon.

Gildea finished in 1:06:58, more than 90 seconds better than the next-fastest runner, Raul Arcos of Corona. Ricky Avila, 24, of Sylmar, placed third with a time of 1:08:39.
